Re: Notes from Stoney- September, 2008
Hi Folks- Another busy time of the year… a new school year has brought many changes to athletic training staffs throughout District One…there are still vacancies on some staffs at the collegiate and interscholastic levels, as well as a host of clinical positions…go to the NATA Career Center if you’re still looking for that perfect spot…
The EATA Annual Meeting & Symposium will be held from January 9-12 at the Boston Copley Marriott Place (Saturday-Monday format). The 2010 meeting will also be in Boston, as the 2010 NATA Annual Meeting will be in Philadelphia. The 2009 NATA meeting will be in San Antonio from June 17-20…
Here’s some interesting news from Lisa Gay Witham,
formerly the assistant Athletic Trainer at the Canterbury School
in New Milford CT. She has just moved to Wilmore, Kentucky where she has begun a Masters in Christian Counseling program at Asbury Theological Seminary.
She hopes to continue her work in Sports Medicine as her Seminary class schedule
allows as 2009 will mark her 20th year in the profession. She sends best wishes to all…
The memory of Bill Bulloch is still weighing on many of us…Artie Poitras forwarded a moving tribute from the Lowell Sun about Bill, and I asked Tim to post it on the District One web site (www.d1eata.org) …we will honor Bill as a District, and I will announce those plans by the end of the month…
And now…some items of interest…

4. Announcement- Dr. David Moyer Award Nominations
To: EATA District One Membership
From: George O’Neil, Chair
EATA’s Dr. David G. Moyer Award Committee
Date: August 24, 2008
I am writing you as the chairperson of the EATA’s Dr. David G. Moyer Award Committee, which is presented annually to a deserving physician. Dr. Moyer was a true advocate of athletic training and worked diligently to improve and promote our profession. In addition to serving as the team physician for Lansdale and North Penn High Schools, Germantown Academy, and Lafayette College, Dr. Moyer was an instructor of athletic medicine at Penn State University, authored several papers on sports medicine, and also ran a yearly symposium at Germantown Academy for those interested in athletic injuries. Dr. Moyer was also very active in his community, where he sat on numerous boards and councils dealing with both medical and civic concerns.
The EATA has been fortunate to have so many nationally prominent physicians in our region. This award has been presented to such renowned physicians as Dr. Kenneth DeHaven, Dr. Arthur Pappas, Dr. Joseph Torg, and last year to Dr. Richard Levandowski.. We also have many dedicated, hard-working physicians that have not attained the national prominence as these physicians, yet espouse all of the virtues of Dr. Moyer.
The committee would like the District Two membership within EATA to nominate deserving physicians for this prestigious award. Nominations will be accepted until September 15, 2008. Please include a letter of nomination and the physician’s vitae. Nominations should be sent to:
