Hope you had the opportunity to attend the 59th Annual EATA Meeting in Boston earlier in the month...a stellar clinical symposium was matched by record attendance (1280), as well as a return to the old "Grossinger Days" with an in-hotel Saturday Night Social (SRO!) hosted by Collins Sports Medicine and the EATA...Make plans to attend next year's EATA meeting in Valley Forge, PA on January 4-7, 2008...

2. Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation- 2nd Annual Athletic Training Student Leadership Workshop
May 17-19, 2007 Fort Lauderdale, FL
The Collegiate Sports Medicine (CSM) Foundation will be hosting the 2nd Annual Athletic Training Student Leadership Workshop. This workshop is by invitation, of which two (2) students from each NATA district will be selected and provided a scholarship to attend. Scholarship includes air fare, hotels and meals. The meeting will focus on leadership qualities, past, present and future of the athletic training professionals, graduate school preparation, job opportunities, research and organizational skills for a leader in the health care field. Faculty will consist of present and past NATA leaders (including Denise Fandel, Julie Max and Kent Falb) in an open format to provide students with an opportunity to connect with those individuals that have shaped the profession of athletic training. Program supported by Cramer Products, Inc.
The dates of the Workshop are May 17-19, 2007 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida!!!

3. CUATC Award Nominations
The College and University Athletic Trainer Committee (CUATC) wishes to recognize those collegiate athletic trainers who have demonstrated exceptional performance as an athletic trainer. All awards will be presented at the annual NATA Symposium during the CUATC program.
A winner of each award will be named for the following collegiate athletic divisions: Division I; Division IA; Division II; Division III; NAIA; Junior/Community Colleges
According to CUATC District One Chair Artie Poitras, District One had no nominations last year...we need to change that...
Please take the time to nominate a co-worker or colleague...criteria and on-line nomination forms are available on the CUATC link on the NATA website

4. NATA Governance Task Force
The NATA Board of Directors has established a Task Force to examine the Governance structure of the NATA, at the National and District levels. The Task Force has been charged to examine if our current style of governance is effective and relevant to the membership.
Don Bagnall, District One Representative to the Task Force, presented the Committee's findings to date to the membership at the District One meeting at the EATAs...this group is a work in progress and is still soliciting comments and concerns...please contact Don at dbagnall@hopkins.edu or call

5. NATA-REF Scholarship Deadline
A reminder to all athletic training students and athletic training education programs that the deadline for applying for NATA-REF scholarships is February 10th...go to the NATA website and go to the "NATA Foundation" link, or go to www.natafoundation.org.
6. EATA Student Delegation
The inaugural EATA Student Delegation presented an outstanding program for the over-300 athletic training students in attendance at the EATA meeting in Boston. I want to thank the following students whose terms have expired from the Delegation for their service: Robert Huggins- UConn; Darci Dickinson-UMaine-Orono and Lauren Goley- U Rhode Island. Continuing on the Delegation will be Barbara Hemphill- Salem State; Dan Gay- Colby-Sawyer and Helen Smith-U of Vermont.
