Hi Folks!

The fall season is well underway, and there's a lot happening throughout District One...
make sure to check our various websites regularly...remember, you can link onto the
NATA, EATA, BOC and State websites by going to the District One website (www.eatad1.org)...

We have several elections being held over the next two months...please check the dates
and go to the proper website for on-line voting...if you have a question on any election; please contact District Secretary Tim Weston, (tsweston@colby.edu), who will steer you in the right direction...

Please be aware of the following items and events...

1.    District One Director Election

The election for District One Director between Maria Hutsick and myself will be held from October 2nd-31st, on the District's website (www.eatad1.org). All questions concerning election procedures, on-line voting and mail ballots should be directed to either John Ryan, District One Nominations & Elections Chair (jpryanlatc@att.net ; 207-992-5574) or Tim Weston, District One Secretary (tsweston@colby.edu ;
(207-859-4970).

2.    BOC Director Election

The Board of Certification (BOC) has been interviewing candidates for the Athletic Trainer Director position on the BOC.
Four certified athletic trainers have been submitted for the ballot. Those athletic trainers are:

       Marcia Anderson, Ph.D., ATC    Bridgewater State College
       Valerie Herzog, EdD, ATC         Utah
       Robert Sandman, MEd., ATC     Hurst, TX
       David Stuckey, MS, ATC           Abilene, TX

On October 11th, an e-mail will be sent to you allowing you to vote. Please go to the BOC website (www.bocatc.org ) to review each candidate's bio. The election will be held from October 11th- November 10th.

District One member Marcia Anderson, from Bridgewater State College, is a candidate for the BOC Athletic Trainer Director position.

3.    EATA Election- President-Elect and Secretary

The EATA will be holding elections for President-Elect and Secretary from November 1-30, on the EATA website (www.goeata.org).

Candidates for President-Elect are:

        Frank Mastrangelo    Dexter School- Brookline, MA
        Robert Ward             Moravian College- Moravian, PA

        Candidates for Secretary are:
   
        Michael Gay            Penn. State University
        Carrie Graham         U. of Connecticut

District One member Frank Mastrangelo, from the Dexter School in Brookline, is a candidate for EATA President-Elect.
District One member Carrie Graham, from the U. of Connecticut, is a candidate for EATA Secretary.

4.    Reminder- Address changes

Here is a yearly reminder for those of you who have moved recently...please update your personal information (address, phone numbers, e-mail address changes) with the NATA, EATA, your State Association, BOC and State Licensing Boards.  Please contact your State or District Secretary for more information.

5.    BOC CEU Deadline for Last Names A-G

A reminder that certified athletic trainers whose last names begin with A-G have until December 31st to submit their CEU’s to the BOC. Go to the BOC website (www.bocatc.org) to develop your on-line file to submit your CEU’s electronically.

6.    EATA- Boston, 2007

The 2007 EATA Annual Meeting and Symposium will be held at the Boston Marriott Copley Place from January 5-8, 2007. This is a Friday-Monday format, with the Banquet and State Meetings on Saturday and the District Meetings on Sunday. Registration info is now available on the EATA website (www.goeata.org).

7.    Housing- NATA Anaheim, 2007

The 2007 NATA Annual Meeting and Symposium will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from June 26-30, 2007.  Housing reservations are scheduled to open in November, 2006, due to the location of the Convention and the various entertainments.  Keep monitoring the NATA website (www.nata.org) for Convention updates.

9.    EATA Scholarships- Deadline is November 1st

A reminder to Curriculum Directors of District One schools with Athletic Training
Education Programs...deadline for applying for EATA Scholarships is November 1, 2006.

Scholarship applications are available on the EATA website at www.goeata.org .
